Discussion:
WHERE IS THE REAL GOD?
(too old to reply)

There are close to a thousand different God beliefs. Millions of people base
their lives on their different God beliefs.

If there is any real God that created the Universe and everything in it, why
does he not

announce directly from his heaven that he is the REAL God and all the others
are fakes?

We're waiting!

"Seek and ye shall find" - don't just stand there!
Actually he is right beside you, so you won't have to look far
As for God telling us who he is - he's done it - it's all in the Bible

God bless,

He's so powerful that he needs men to take dictation? 100 years and
more after the "fact"? Not very impressive for a person, let alone a
god.

Who are you to judge God - after all he is GOD!
If he did speak from the heavens, would you bow down and worship Him or put
it down to some strange natural phenomenon?

You so weak minded that you believe in 'him'
because he 'just might' speak from heaven, [whereaver that is]
or is that what you learned from some other silly human like yourself?

I believe so.

If the Christian god actually exists he knows exactly what I would
need to accept his existence. He wouldn't need you as an
intermediary. Acting as if he does (which all Christians do) makes
hubris look humble. Pride goeth before a fall, right?

I presume most Xter's judge their gods otherwise why would they worship
them. Do you yourself judge that your particular "God" is good?

The existence of such a being is a different issue to whether or not it
should be worshipped. If it demonstrated its' existence and demanded
worship then that would immediately prove it is to be treated with
suspicion. It is nonsensical that an omni type being would require worship.
Anyway the question is moot until any such beings show up. Even a god of
moderate ability should have no difficulty in convincing anyone of its'
existance, even my cat can do that. The god stories say that certain gods
did show up and convince various people of their existance at certain
times. These stories are contradictory and have no supporting evidence
outside of the stories themselves.

More complaints? Don't you see the applied test of time? Had the memory
of Jesus been erased in a century, then the message would not have been
worth preserving in the first place.
As is, the memory of Jesus is supremely worth preserving, and ever since
it was first published, the Bible has become the world's best seller,
eclipsing all other publications put together. At least one Bible
translation can be found in most homes and hotel rooms of the world.

They're perfectly sized to patch a hole where a brick has fallen
out. Spread with mortar and cram in, using a sledge if necessary.
You could use a brick, of course, but then you wouldn't get to
use a bible.

There are close to a thousand different God beliefs. Millions of people
base their lives on their different God beliefs.
If there is any real God that created the Universe and everything in it,
why does he not
announce directly from his heaven that he is the REAL God and all the
others are fakes?
We're waiting!
"Seek and ye shall find" - don't just stand there!
Actually he is right beside you, so you won't have to look far
As for God telling us who he is - he's done it - it's all in the Bible
God bless,
David
"Beside you" may be too far. Meister Eckhart used to say: God is closer
to you, than you are to yourself. He got that understanding from the below

Proverbs 10:22 God is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most
secret thoughts.

You never see animals going through the absurd and often horrible fooleries of
magic and religion. Only man behaves with such gratuitous folly. It is the
price he has to pay for being intelligent but not, as yet, quite intelligent
enough.
[Aldous Leonard Huxley]

You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons,
sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on
water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say
that we are the ones that need help?
[with acknowledgements to Jon Stol]

"The most ridiculous concept ever perpetrated by Homo Sapiens is that the Lord
God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of the Universes, wants the saccharine
adoration of his creations, that he can be persuaded by their prayers, and
becomes petulant if he does not receive this flattery. Yet this ridiculous
notion, without one real shred of evidence to bolster it, has gone on to found
one of the oldest, largest and least productive industries in history."

If you really started seeing amazingly improbable things, you could
either dismiss them as "just coincidences" or start believing in
miracles and therefore God as a result. In the latter case, you might
well be diagnosed as suffering from a psychotic disorder. So if God
does exist, and is merciful, he knows that you really don't want to be
considered mentally deranged, and presumably that's why He doesn't
cause you to experience miracles. It appears God would rather you be
alienated and ignorant of Him than suffer the stigma of mental illness.

There are close to a thousand different God beliefs. Millions of people base
their lives on their different God beliefs.
If there is any real God that created the Universe and everything in it, why
does he not
announce directly from his heaven that he is the REAL God and all the others
are fakes?
Well, your request may be incoherent. What exactly do you want God to
do? I mean, he created the universe, but that's not enough. What
next? Let's assume all the human conceptions of God are in some way
inadequate. Most people acknowledge that anyway.
Bill is still waiting for God to show himself unmistakably, like perhaps
as a giant talking face in the sky, saying: I am God, and I want you
to do as I tell you, or I will have my demons burn your sorry ass in
hell for all eternity.
Or like Jesus did, to prove his resurrection to those who missed it. Why
won't god do that for those of *us* who missed it? Instead, we have to
take the word of some pretty shady people, or believe a book that's
loaded with mistakes and contradictions.
Ask a fella in a Jerusalem street in the year three hundred AD
"Excuse me sir but where can I buy a bible around here'

he is likely to respond with

"Buy a WHAT?"

After that, Bill assures us, he will become a confirmed Christian,
following God's commandments faithfully for the rest of his life.
I would too, if faith were erased from the picture - for the same reasons
above.
Post by Pastor Frank
But
in the mean time he will just keep on doing whatever feels good,
irrespective of whether it's sin or virtue. LOL
No, Frank, it's what feels *right*.

It's amazing how little Christians know about the history of their belief
system. Some actually think Jesus founded the religion, a carpenter who
built churches and ran a printing press on the side.

Moving on to relics, we've got shrouds, from Turin; wine from the
wedding at Cana, splinters from the true Cross Ι..then of course,
there's all the stuff made by Jesus in his days in the carpentry shop.
Pipe racks, coffee tables, cake stands, bookends, crucifixes, nice
cheeseboard, waterproof sandals fruit bowls..

Maybe they're fighting over who is real one. Or maybe none of them are.

I believe that if there were a god, it would be obvious. Why would a
supreme being hide from its own creations?

True, but in the infinitely improbable case that he existed, he should
at least have the courtesy to explain his 'mysterious ways' to us.

Scenario. Bush tells everyone why he screwed up the way he did -
without accepting total responsibility for being a moron.

Would it make any difference to hear more lies?

Or do you really think the god the Christians define would apologize
for being a total loon for 6,000 years?

Our Christian "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16) and one sure has to be an
atheist "moron" to consider love and the lover of our soul a "total loon".

'Total lunacy' is accepting the god of Christianity
whilst at the same time ignoring or dismissing the thousands of other gods

THAT my pathetic friend ............is lunacy

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one
fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other
possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

Or do you really think the god the Christians define would apologize
for being a total loon for 6,000 years?
Our Christian "God is love"
YOUR "Christian god" is what you suck out of a bottle. Had any good
altar boys recently, Fake? Or do you prefer the evangelical route -
paying for "love"?

Our Christian "God is love" (1 John 4:8,16) and one sure has to be an
atheist "moron" to consider love and the lover of our soul a "total loon".
Or a Christian moron to completely ignore the fascism factor of the OT god,
and accept the contradiction between it and the NT lovegod as if it wasn't
there.

The 'new covenant' completely erases the OT, including its god. That
god was a completely different god than the god of the NT. Except
where they're the same. And where the OT, no longer important, is
referenced in the NT. But Christians aren't supposed to actually READ
the thing, they're supposed to just accept what their preachers tell
them to accept. After all it WAS written in Latin, wasn't it? At a
time when the common man didn't speak Latin? so that he couldn't
understand it, even if he COULD get a copy, which was nearly
impossible? Damn that Gutenberg anyway.

Want to buy contradictions wholesale? Christianity has more than
anyone could ever afford.

There are close to a thousand different God beliefs. Millions of people base
their lives on their different God beliefs.
If there is any real God that created the Universe and everything in it, why
does he not
announce directly from his heaven that he is the REAL God and all the others
are fakes?
We're waiting!
It's gonna be a loooooong wait

like perhaps as a giant talking face in the sky, saying: I am God, and I
want you to do as I tell you, or I will have my demons burn your sorry ass
in hell for all eternity.
After that, they assure us, they will become confirmed Christians,
following God's commandments faithfully for the rest of their lives. But in
the mean time they will just keep on doing whatever feels good, irrespective
of whether it's sin or virtue. And they hope it will be a "looooooong wait".

Even Jumbo Jets Are built on the rock hard truth or They too would not
fly.
If a Jumbo Jet was built on Tradition it would still be on the drawing board.

Yes but is your faith built on that same kind of foundation?

Maybe so until the earth quake sinks it under.

You can not build on "TRADITION" either.
For when the truth come along it will just burn up.

M,
The truth is talked about, in fact preached about, so much that
one has to begin to wonder exactly why all this paranoia about
'the truth' is so necessary to support a god that is supposed to
have created everything.

The answer of course, is obvious.

............and as for earthquakes and volcanos:

Man of old, the savage,
formed the belief,
the eruption of the volcano
was god's expression of grief.

Man believed the lightning bolt,
for the crops - a blessing of rain,
the curse of flood lending starvation,
was spewed from heavenly gates.

Man believed he could calm divine wrath,
through sacrifice of a virgin pure,
though blood appeased him not,
how the quake continues to tremble the earth.

Man believed the sting of a bee,
the fangs of the serpent, the teeth of a bear
were all signs of divine things,
deities by the dozens, some invented in pairs.

Silly superstitions thrive to this day,
if not for the rationalist, skeptic,
and freethinker,
where would we be?

In Church thumping Bibles, that's where!
See, we've came a long way.
Instead of cracking virgins' skulls,

There is no rational reason to believe anything. We believe in
induction because that is the sort of creature we are. There is no
reason to believe the future will resemble the past; we cannot say why
we do.

That last line is most ambiguous, something here we have to put up a lot
with from religionists.

Care to expand on that line
in plain clear, concise, logical English?

There are close to a thousand different God beliefs. Millions of people
base their lives on their different God beliefs.
If there is any real God that created the Universe and everything in it,
why does he not
announce directly from his heaven that he is the REAL God and all the
others are fakes?
We're waiting!
Still looking for that giant talking face in the sky saying: I am God,
and I want you to do as I tell you, or my devils are going to burn your
sorry ass in hell for evermore?

Why would someone like you spend sooo much time talking
about the Bible, reading it, etc., if you feel about it this way?
;-D.

You are caught in a catch-22 position. You cannot understand
the Word because you are not a believer, and you are not a
believer because you cannot understand the Word.

Why would any 'REAL' God permit his followers to be misled by hundreds of
myths and fables??? Let's face it. There is NO objective verifiable evidence
that ANY
God actually exists except in the imaginations of man!

Proven by man's penchant to create break away cults witin any given religion.

No god would allow that if it were real.

Alternatively, try sanity, fuck off, die somewhere quietly, and don't

Hi Bill,

First of all what GOD is should be known....

God is the explanation of the existence...If you look at God from a
religious point,,,you can not find GOD...Because all of the religions
monopolises God in their way...And all of them are wrong!!! because
all of them are human made...

God can not be belonged to any religion....God is only an explanation
of our existence.

Thats it...
