My vote goes to Harold Camping. He had people turning to the Bible
more than at any other time in the history of the world.
Camping was the number one crackpot false prophet of the year!
Having never heard of him I have had to consult Wikkipedia
"His 2011 end times prediction was that on May 21, 2011 Jesus Christ
would return to Earth, the righteous would fly up to heaven, and that
there would follow five months of fire, brimstone and plagues on
Earth, with millions of people dying each day, culminating on October
21, 2011 with the end of the world. He had previously predicted
judgment days on May 21, 1988, and September 6, 1994."
This this daft predition, like all the many ones before shows these
people live in some fantasy world all of their own. I hope he has
realised now that the real world is something different.
When his prediction completely failed I imagine that more people
turned away from the Bible than at any previous time in the history of
the world realising they had been sold a dead parrot.
