Well done sir!

I'd agree bu tfor another, but what's more important is that unlike
other
christians, Camping and his followers actually made a prediction
that was testable.

To be spectacularly wrong, after many of your followers have donated
thousands of dollars to your fake "save the date" campaign, especially
since some of 'em gave everything they had, is an accomplishment.

To be spectacularly wrong TWICE IN ONE YEAR takes some doing. When
you factor in the point that he pulled the same stunt back in the 90's
and was wrong then too, well, that just puts it over the top.

Of course, now that he's got the loot, he "retires". "In Shame" HAHAHA
On the beach in the Bahamas, more like.

you start a religion." -- L. Ron Hubbard.

Camping made the prediction, his followers just lapped it up. But yes,
it was testable. And it failed. So he made another. And that one
failed, and so did the next. Now he has made yet another, and despite
this spectacular track record for utter failure the fawning gullible
saps like peeoh there continue to send him money. And I predict that
when his latest prediction fails too he'll come out with yet another
next year, and the muppets who sent him all they could spare when he
told them there wouldn't be a next year will continue to do so. What
does it take for people to see him as the shameless fraud and conman
he clearly is?

I've found it pretty helpful in discussions with Christians
over faith. I point out that the Camping followers who
sold their homes and gave away possessions in
anticipation of the tribulation demonstrated a great
deal of faith in God.

Of course it was the wrong God, but it's still useful
as a point to make about how if you just have faith,
you will find Jesus.

Indeed, and faith is a wonderful thing, I think it is
more human than our ability to reason.

Religion has co-opted faith, however. One can
have great faith and need not invest it in
magic sky pixies or immoral evil omnipotent
monsters.

Well they do, which is partially why religion is in decline.

Precitions like this may make a short time gain but in the
long time they do more harm to religion than good. I hope
he carries on.

Having never heard of him I have had to consult Wikkipedia
It says:

"His 2011 end times prediction was that on May 21, 2011 Jesus Christ
would return to Earth, the righteous would fly up to heaven, and that
there would follow five months of fire, brimstone and plagues on
Earth, with millions of people dying each day, culminating on October
21, 2011 with the end of the world.[7][8] He had previously predicted
judgment days on May 21, 1988, and September 6, 1994.[9][10][11]"

This this daft predition, like all the many ones before shows these
people live in some fantasy world all of their own. I hope he has
realised now that the real world is something different.

When his prediction completely failed I imagine that more people
turned away from the Bible than at any previous time in the history of
the world realising they had been sold a dead parrot.

Here in the US, these predictions hit the prime time
news cycles, both newsprint and teevee, and talk
show comedians brought it up in their monologues.
